Update on the Google +1 Button for SEO

Posted by: bhartzer on: June 22, 2011

As you might recall, when Google launched the Google +1 Button recently, I was a pretty strong critic. Implementing the Google +1 Button would actually slow down your website up to 2 seconds. Which is bad for Search Engine Optimization. No one wants a slow website. It is just not good for users. Search Advisory has recently posted an updated about the Google +1 button that is worth reading. Apparently Google is working on fixing this issue. As with any new addition to your web page, I always recommend doing a page speed load test. Test the page load speed before you make the change, and then test if afterwards. Decide for yourself if slowing down your web page load speed is worth the risk or not.
